The Honorable DOUGLAS E. WEATHERS, Ret., passed away on October 24, 2016 from early onset Alzheimer's at age 61.
Judge Weathers was a beloved and accomplished trial attorney. He was active in many legal organizations such as Barristers, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association, the Riverside and San Bernardino County Bar Associations, the American Inns of Court and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
He was enrobed as a Riverside County Superior Court Judge on January 27, 2006. Being a judge fit Judge Weathers' temperament and he never spoke about his job without commenting that he had "the best job in the world." It was important to him that he serve the public and lawyers appearing before him with utmost professionalism and civility, something he had promoted when mentoring young lawyers in the associations to which he belonged.
Judge Weathers was equally known and admired for the true friendships he had cultivated throughout child and adulthood. He was quick-witted, the life of the party and a loyal friend. He is deeply missed.
We are asking for donations to establish a memorial scholarship fund in his name, which will be given to three outstanding students who participate in the annual Riverside County Mock Trial Competition.
